 A lot of personalities, that were born or had lived on the shores of Lake Como or Lake Lugano, had become famous, in different fields, from science to art and literature.
The landscape of the lakes and the surrounding valleys inspired many authors, that often found in this land a second Native land, not only a source of inspiration.
The greater personalities, linked to the Lake Como, are the scientist Alessandro Volta, born in Como in 1745 and the writer Alessandro Manzoni, born in Milan in 1785.
