Restaurants, Inns and Alpine Huts
The best restaurants where you will taste the Italian kitchen and the typical taverns where you can discover the kitchen of the Lake Como and the near valleys. The ritual of the conviviality is one of the essential elements of the lake hospitality.
In the periods of high season, and in the weekends too, the restaurants are full of people, therefore it is well to reserve with wide anticipation.
In the periods of low season the restaurants have a weekly closing day.
There are many alpine huts in the mountains, and the agriturismi (holiday farms) that refresh the travellers on the trekking and mountain bike tracks, with the energetic country-style kitchen.
And then there are crotti, the wine cellars, dug in the cliff, in which the temperature, in whichever season, is maintained on the 8 °C. Here it is much pleasant to spend some hour, under the trees in the beautiful season or near the fireplace in winter, drinking and eating.
Some have conserved the name of - Crotto-, others from simple taverns became luxury restaurants.
